Lanvin x H&M

After attending the preview of the Lanvin x H&M collaboration I am not so sure I would rather have "Lanvin not flowers" . The dresses are way over the top but I guess there are a few great New Year eve's dresses in the collection. Even if this collection will get some of us excited and others not so much, that is great as that is what fashion and clothes are all about; choices. However,  there is one big problem and that is their choice of materials and finishing. Never mind the quality, but the fabrics are just all odd choices. Most of the dresses are made out of unflattering fabrics that do nothing for a women's body. And what is up will all the skin colour mesh on almost every dress? I am not sure who I feel about it but I sure know that it wil not suit my skin tone. This being said a couple od the heels are rather cute, the same goes for the necklaces (some great statement pieces to be grabbed), in my view the big (and cheap) winner of this collection are the sunglasses. Now those are amazing pieces, and I wouldn't mind getting my hand on a pair. Do you have your eye on any item in particular?

Thanks again to the H&M for what was a fun evening out.

P.S: As the servers are acting up I need less pictures on my main page so for the whole post just ‘click’ on [...]. Sorry for any inconvenience.

tulle dress: 199€ (fun and adorable and love the colours dress but god knows who can pull it off)

floral dress and pink dress: 149€ each

Printed heel: 99€ (I actually quite like these)

vest: 99€ (quite like the ribbon detail on this vest)

necklace (also exists in pink): 39,95€ (the perfect statement necklace in my view)

politically correct

So I was lucky enough to get invited to the Petit riens défilé; 'Second hand, second life'. Every year this show is sold out right from the start and I have to say I was curious to discover what all the fuss was about. I was nicely surprised, the creations varied from very wearable and nicely constructed, to the completely eccentric yet very intriguing creations of other designers. These Belgian designers had the fun yet difficult task of turning someone else's trash into their own creations, giving these clothes an unexpected  'second life'. (picture overload)

//BACKSTAGE//

Here were some of my favourite creations/designers including the very excentrique yet talented Romain Brau who has a way of seeing the world like no one else I know. Delvaux sent out some amazing bags and pieces and Cathy Pill whom I discovered not that long ago but she has a fresh and youthful way of playing with colours, and so many others... But I will let the pictures do the talking and you can judge for yourself if they have done these old second hand clothes justice.

//S.P. TOUSSAINT & A. KNACKFUSS //

And last but not least, some of the pieces from the other designers that I really liked and especially as these were made from used clothes.

Cathy Pill: I love everything about this outfit, from this season's colour to the sports wear worn dressed up

Kim Stumpf: The woven wrap cardigan is just stunning

Later during the night, these creations were auctioned off in order to collect enough money to open up a café for some of the homeless people, somewhere where they could benefit from actual human interactions and exchanges and have something warm to drink.

Walk the talk

You might remember me wearing my Faguo shoes in previous posts such as this one or even worn by Candice here (whom you have got to know throughout the summer). I thought I would wait until after meeting the creators behind this 'responsible' shoe before talking about it and what it represents. First thing you need to know it is not just a shoe, and in todays world were we all seem infatuated by multifunctional object, it seems quite normal that our shoe snow have multiple purposes. Let me explain myself.

Nicolas and Frédéric, the two French creators and designers behing the Faguos, created about a year ago this little pump and added the extra value to it by making sure this shoe was 'responsible'. Since the start they have tracked and calculated the amount of emissions the production of each shoe creates as they are conscious that "Faguo's activity has a direct impact on the global warming". Thus, their goal is to decrease these carbon emissions as much as possible, thus creating a smaller carbon footprint. More so, with every pair of shoes brought somewhere in France a tree is planted in turn "they will constitute a stock of carbon taking part in the fight against global warming". So for every shoe sold = a tree is planted = doing something good for our planet. It's not much, but sure is a start and at least ou can say you did something and you did it fashionably. Indeed, even though they have clearly spent a lot of time researching the impact on the environment of producing these shoes, they have also spent as much time thinking about the clean and simple yet well thought out design of the shoe.

Thanks to Nicolas and Frédéric for taking the time to share their passion, creations and knowledge with me!

The small coconut button on the side represents their promise of being a responsible yet fashionable shoe.

This is the limited edition shoe created for the event at the Bozar shop in Brussels. Then only made 120 of them so if you want a pair you better be quick, they are also available online which is never a bad thing :)
