Meet Jojo (project)

It is that time of the year where we are looking for comfortable, yet playful shoes to wear during summer that work well with anything and at any-time. So let me introduce the Jojo project. A couple of friends started this project in the summer of 2008 and it has grown into a true success story and one with a goal that goes beyond selling shoes (produced in conditions that respect both the workers and the environment.) In their own words, part shoe, part bandage, Jojo tries to "take care off" certain fractures in our world. When you purchase a pair you can chose which one of the two projects you want to support. Thus, one pair of shoe brought is either a tree planted in Africa or you have just guaranteed one year of clean and drinkable water for one person in Africa. If it took some time to get use to the bandage style of the shoe, I can truly say it has grown on me. More so, I like the idea of viewing the laces of the shoes as both a 'bandage' (a small gesture towards healing some of the problems in our world) and a 'bow' (representing a present to someone somewhere in the world that could really use it).

Karl Lagerfeld x Coca Light

Summer has arrived, and diet Coke has taken yet another stylish step into fashion this Spring "by announcing its second fashion collaboration with international creative genius, Karl Lagerfeld. The world-renowned designer will create not one but three new and exclusive designs for the iconic Diet Coke aluminium bottle." The lovely people at Coca Cola were nice enough to send little old me the limited edition box set of the three bottles of Coca Cola Light designed by Karl Lagerfeld. Otherwise know as the 'Diet Coke Limited Edition Collection by Karl Lagerfeld'.

"Using the light and playful elements of his identifiable trademark style, such as graphic cuts, a contrasting black and white palette and clean lines broken with colour or detailing -- Karl Lagerfeld has created a bold, contemporary yet instantly recognisable collection." There is very little diet, that with this collaboration, Coca Cola has yet again proved to the world that it is the master of branding (and even re-branding something that is already as recognisable as Coca Cola).

I thought this gift was very fitting for me, especially in this period of Thesis writing and exams. And as I don't drink coffe, Diet Coka has been my go-to drink for the last seven years. What are your thoughts on the bottles? and even the project itself?

For those of you living in Belgium, this bottles will be available individually of in the box set, the 28 Mai at l'Inno and in June at Kinepolis during the Ladies@The Movies nights.

Add some colour to that

H&M never ceases to impress me. Even though the clothes often look a bit better in their lookbooks than in the shops, the plethora of  accessories, the on-trend items and the more-than reasonable prices always put a smile on my face. Yes it might sound vain to say that clothes can make one happy but that is just the truth of the matter. It is not actually the clothes, or even the purchase that make me happy, it has more to do with the find in itself. But back to H&M's latest summer lookbook, I have to say I really the simple cuts and the bright fresh colours. I especially like the yellow dress 'ensemble', but I am not sure how it would look on a redhead.  Anyway, enough worrying about how yellow would look on me, and back to studying my Chinese. Good luck to all those of you who are currently studying for their exams!

Essential Flash collection

I was kindly invited by Oona to the launch of the new Flash collection from Essentiel. It was a really nice warm and sunny evening which went well with the collection. I have to say this collection's timing is impecable as it seems that neon brights have just started to hit the streets and pop up here and there.
