Essentiel at Miele catwalk

I was lucky enough to be invited last Thursday to the Miele catwalk, but even better was the lovely invitation we got from Inge Onsea- the brain and inspiration behind the Belgian brand Essentiel - to spend the afternoon with her backstage. I always find these kind of invitations fun and interesting, but this time it was so much more than simply 'interesting', it was truly a wonderful experience. Inge and Tom - the other creative genius behind Essentiel - are the perfect duo, bouncing ideas off of each other and complementing one another to perfection. They are all smiles and giggles, and are both clearly the inspiration behind this youthful and colourful brand catering to the carefree woman. And check out those green and red leather jacket that they did for this F/W 2011 collection, they are simply gorgeous.

PS: Inge is the gorgeous lady in the bright yellow coat and Tom is the one sporting the great bomber jacket.

As always Filles à papa were amazing, Bshirt was fun and laid-back and Lenny Leleu was my discovery of the evening.

A huge thank you to Miele for putting on a wonderful show, to Oona -especially Marie - for always thinking of me, and to Inge and Tom for the openness and free spirit.

Bshirt x Apéros Urbains

Last three pictures c/o Apéros Urbains

I was kindly invited last Friday to the closing party of the Apéros Urbains in Brussels, and only in Belgium would you have a VIP area which has "Frites à volonté" otherwise know as open bar and french fries for all. It was a great evening with a great line up, and both the Apéros Urbain team an the Bshirt team made the evening spectacular. Hopefully you will read and see more of this new and quirky belgian brand Bshirt on the blog some time soon. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

Give us "The Skinny" on Forever21

Last thursday I had the wonderful opportunity to talk to some of people on the the Forever21 team, including one of the bloggers for The Skinny (which is Forever21's official blog and life page). It was a fantastic and very interesting two hours.

One thing is certain, Forever21 is slowly but very surely making it's way onto the European continent, and it definitely looks like it is here to stay. It all in Dublin and Birmingham, then onto London, Vienna, Barcelona, Belgium and Israel is next followed by China. Interestingly enough, both the style and the essence is the same as back in the states - fast fashion here we come, and we love it. Basically, if you find something you like in the stores or online get it! Once it's gone it will be gone for good. Something that bloggers, like myself, both like to hear and cringe about. It's the double edge sward of fashion; on the one hand there will not be thousands of people walking the streets or the blogs, for that matter, with the same items as yourself. On the other hand it makes share ones looks pretty difficult, as items will fly of the shelves. Then again this is the beauty of fashion; get it while its hot!

One thing for sure, is that Forever21 has embraced new media and social networking tools since their beginnings, and for them it's more than simply selling the product, it's also about communicating with the customer and understanding them. Something that was fairly obvious when you spend more than five minutes with the Forever21 team. They clearly are one "the forefront of fashion, but also on the forefront of so many other things"; the crazier and more innovative, the better!

Thank you to Marie from Oona for setting up this interview and thank you Forever21 for having me and answering your questions in all honesty :)

Forever21 / Antwerp

I was at the Forever21 shop preview for press on Monday evening and it was a pretty sight indeed. Five thousand square meters of spot on trend (sure sometimes a bit too literal) affordable clothes. It definitely had something to offer for everyone. More so it was actually pretty fun having this enormous shop to ourself for a couple of hours. I had the enormous pleasure of doing a double interview with the people behind this huge project of bringing Forever21 to Europe and the blogger behind The Skinny (Forever21's official blog). It was a great afternoon and I will to a recap of yesterday, hopefully tomorrow.

Also, DON'T FORGET that tomorrow 3 September is the grand opening of the new Forever21 store in Antwerp. The first 500 will get a gift, there will be 10% off vouchers and dress to impress because Caroline from CarolinesMode and Stockholm Street Style is here in Antwerp for this unique occasion!
