Crochet jumpers

They might remind us of our grand-mothers but nonetheless crochet jumpers made a comeback this summer and fashionistas all over quickly caught up with the trend.

Someone else that quickly caught up the trend and in a colourful way, was H&M. They came up with this crochet jumper à la Sonia Rykiel. I really like the way Coline pairs hers with simple dark denims and suede boots.

Thrown over a good pair of tights or over a pair of leggings, it’s a nice substitute for a dress.

But most of the time, the crochet jumper is used to soften an already edgy outfit (Elin Kling) or a spakly one. Love the way it’s tucked into a high-waist leather skirt or over an black harem sequin pants.

Fur collar

Source: TheSartorialist

Love this picture, and ever since I saw it I have 1) gone digging for my old brown tweed jacket and 2) gone on a wild hunt for the perfect little fur collar/wrap. I cant decide on the size nor can I decide on the colour. But I do love i over a black cardigan, a green trench or a tweed jacket so I am looking forward to finding the perfect one before winter is over, preferably.

Again, ebay seems like a good place for a fur collar or try any thrift shop.

Hope you enjoyed the post.

Charcoal over-sized coats

Source: Style.com

These manly looking over-sized coats were seen gracing the catwalks of the 2009 F-W fashion shows-Isabel Marant, Vanessa Bruno, Maje, The Kooples (just to name a few). And for once H&M was no catching  up with the trend. It had a coat out last year that was extremely similar (see here on Betty and Tokyobanhdao). They were thrown over ultra light and feminine dresses, short skirts and suede trousers.

This student from Helsinki has opted for the mannish jacket in grey tweed instead of the coat version. Also pairing it with harem pants, OTK boots and shorts skirts. Love the over powering jacket on top of her petite frame.

Go big, Go textured

It seems like the tutu has left the dance studios and catwalks to hit the streets. Now, I am not sure how comfortable I would be waiting for the bus in a tutu. This been said some of the following girls have really pulled it off.

If you are not too sure about the “girly” look, here are a few alternatives that I really like. Either pair your textured pink/white skirt with a pair of combat ankle boots like Karla, or go for a black or blue tulle skirt like Camille. (who said tulle had to be pink?)

Let’s talk feathers. Topshop, Zara and Asos have all come up with some nice and playful looking feather skirts. Most have adopted the look in back, but I must admit that topshop’s skirt in a grey/purple colour is pretty cute (seen here on Betty).

Finally, we have the fringed skirt. We discovered them over the summer but they are still being worn with jumpers and tights. Not one of my favorite types of skirts, but I actually like the way this french girl wears hers.
