Blooming

I have a distinct feeling that this spring it's going to be all about the prints, whether they are floral, animal prints or even graphic. They will be seen on, well just about an item of clothing; structured dresses, short skirts, light shirts, playful jumpsuits, bright leggings and even jeans. Now there are two ways of wearing a print, either you tone it down with nude colours or an all black outfit either you go in the other directions and start pilling them on, preferably mixing stripes and dots with floral or graphic like prints. This either works or you simply end up looking like you belong in a pop pouri box.

Last but not least, Print overload, when it really shouldn't work but for some strange reason it really does. Quirky yet cute!

Spring is sure as hell not here yet (in my case it's still snowing even) but the blooming as definitely begun and so it should!

High, higher, highest

This winter, it was out with the 'old' OTK boots and in with the 'new' thigh high boots. Just when you were getting use to wearing the OTK boots, here comes the Uber high boots. Indeed, for the last couple of years they have been discretely creeping their way up our legs to the point were they are sometimes no longer visible.

The trick to not looking like you belong on a street corner seems to be either adding an extra dose of feminine touches or keeping it real simplistic.

On a feminine note, I have seen many floral dresses, lace tights, cute shirts and tons of jewelry paired with leather or suede Tight High boots. More so, long sleeveless faux fur coats seem to take the eye away from the hight of these TH boots, also giving the outfit a warm and cozy feel to it.

On a more simplistic note, the idea is to blend the TH boots into the outfit and make it fade away rather than stand out. Indeed, most girls seem to be pairing theirs with black jeans or over opaque black tights in some way creating the illusion of longer legs and non existent boots. Further more, outfits need to be kept simple and understated, and most important of all is to avoid flashing excess flesh. All of these girls sure have made the TH boots work for them!

The girls go cosmical

It looks like the girls have gone 'cosmic' and bo does it look appealing. I was delighted when three of my all time favourite bloggers (for many different reasons) started a new 'trend'. I had less to do with clothes and more to do with 'the ambiance', but the idea was rather nice.

They are crazy about tights

2009 was without a doubt the year for tights, never had I seen so many different interpretation of this practical piece of clothing. More so, the numerous different tights DIY I came across were pretty interesting; from embellished tights to ripped tights. There was definitely something for everyone. More types and styles of tights meant more skirt, dresses  and shorts which was a nice change. Dotted tights ("plumetis") was the new 'it thing' to be wearing, especially combined with leather or even just peekin out from under a pair of cropped trousers. Then there was the two toned tights which added a nice twist to a simple outfit. Since, NYE girls all over have gone lace crazy, not only in dresses, tops but also on tights.

The queen of the tights and one lady that sure know s who to have fun with fashion and never take it too seriously is none other than Chantal. Her ever present smile is not the only thing that made me want to go through all her posts the day I discovered her blog, her creative style was the second. She mixes and matches prints, patterns and florals like no other fashionista out there. I love how she adds her DIY tights or other crazy tights to her outfits, given her an ultimate style of her own.
