Just like most things in LA, you could easily walk right by the amazing Ace hotel and not even know there is a stunning rooftop terrace with one of the most amazing views of downtown LA - 13-story high. Then again, that is probably what they want and is part of the thrill of finding the place.

The Ace hotel in downtown LA has the same vibe as the Ace hotel in London (at the heart of Shoreditch) but still very unique. Hidden in a corner there is a little lift that will take you all the way to the top of the building - and there, the perfect little hiding place for a drink, a quiet meeting, a quick bite to eat or a dip in the pool.

Not only is the view stunning, the people are kind, the decor is beautiful but the food is also very good. Don't go there for a big lunch but rather go there for a bite to eat to keep you going. I would recommend their flatbreads which I found both full of taste and filling enough.

The actual building itself is both impressive inside and out. It was originally built as the United Artists Building and later known as the Texaco Building. Apparently, it was the tallest building in the city for one year after its completion in 1927, and was the tallest privately owned structure in Los Angeles until 1956.
