Saturday night was the highly anticipated Rihanna for River Island show. And well, it didn't disappoint. That is unless you were expecting a fashion forward or even a traditional fashion show. Critics have been harsh when it comes to the collection and I just have to wonder what exactly they were expecting. Sure, it is Fashion Week but this was Rihanna, it was hardly even going to be all tailored suits and long gowns.

For me the show was exactly what I had in mind, and so much more. The show in itself was young, trendy and very laid back. The clothes were simple and completely mirrored Rihanna's current style choices. She could have chosen to go in a different direction and gone with over the top items, but instead she stayed -more or less- sober and minimal with pieces that could just as well be toned down or dressed up. Rihanna was effortlessly gorgeous and actually seemed a bit overwhelmed by the whole experience which was very charming. The after-party was just as laid back and fun as the show, the music was insane, the people were gorgeous but clearly there to party more than to be seen which was a welcome change during the Fashion Week frenzy. If you haven't seen it yet, you can still watch the show here.

The collaboration worked in that it delivered exactly what it was set out to deliver; an affordable 'fast-fashion 'collection inspired by Rihanna's wardrobe and style. And personally I can't wait to see the clothes in stores (03/03) and I have my eye on the blue jumpsuit and a couple of dresses.
